Download

Abbreviatory is a single static binary with no dependencies. Pick the archive for your system. These links always fetch the latest release, which is v0.2.0 right now.

System Archive
Linux, x86-64 abbreviatory_linux_amd64.tar.gz
Linux, ARM64 abbreviatory_linux_arm64.tar.gz
macOS, Apple silicon abbreviatory_darwin_arm64.tar.gz
macOS, Intel abbreviatory_darwin_amd64.tar.gz
Windows, x86-64 abbreviatory_windows_amd64.zip

Each archive holds the abbreviatory binary with the license files and the README.

Check the Download

The release page has a SHA256SUMS file with a checksum for every archive. On Linux or macOS:

sha256sum -c SHA256SUMS --ignore-missing

Every archive was smoke-tested on its own kind of machine before the release went out. The Intel macOS build is the exception: it’s checked for its architecture only, since the build machines are Apple silicon.

Install

On Linux or macOS, unpack and put the binary somewhere on your path:

tar -xzf abbreviatory_linux_amd64.tar.gz
sudo mv abbreviatory /usr/local/bin/
abbreviatory version

The macOS binaries aren’t signed by Apple. If macOS refuses to run them, clear the quarantine flag:

xattr -d com.apple.quarantine abbreviatory

On Windows, unzip the archive and run abbreviatory.exe from a terminal.

Build From Source

With Go installed:

go install github.com/abbreviatory/engine/cmd/abbreviatory@latest

The code is on GitHub, under the Apache License 2.0. It uses nothing outside the Go standard library.
